OUR PETTING ZOO

I am trying to go through all my pictures and do a bunch of updates so that I can print off my blog into a book and I couldn't believe how many pictures I have of my kids and their insects/rodents/pets. Since we have moved to Payson we have blended real well into our enviroment, and just love it! Right now we are proud owners of 3 Lizards, 1 Betta Fish, 2 Guinea Pigs, a couple grasshoppers & plenty of beatles. From sun up till sun down we are outside playing in the yard, mostly trying to catch anything that moves!

Bryce's fish for his birthday. Everytime we go to Walmart we have
to stop to see the fish, so I thought the kids would be excited but I think this
may have been the only time that they looked at it. Its still alive and swimmin'
This is the longest for us to keep a fish alive cuz it's been over a month now!
And I would like to blame Brian for the fact that we have 2 guinea pigs, but that would be a lie... One day after I picked Brynnly & Brylee up from school we headed to our daily routine of stopping by Walmart. On this particular day there were a few girls sitting out front with a big tub and a sign that said,"FREE TO A GOOD HOME" I was hoping that inside the tub were bunny rabbits because I am a sucker for those and wouldn't mind them hopping around the yard...but instead I looked in and saw these big rat looking things that they called GUINEA PIGS. The girls held them....and the next thing I know I am loading up these things in my car and we are headed home. ( I even called Brian to see what he thought about it, because he is the animal lover in the family and he even said that it probably wasn't a good idea) Oops. Hey- he wasn't there to see the look of excitement on his daughters face, because I am pretty sure he would have loaded them up as well if he were there:)

The oversized rats are a hit at the Marler home, the kids LOVE them and are always playing with them. They are sure stinky little guys though. After a few days of letting them sleep inside our home, I decided that wasn't going to last much longer and made them a nice bed outside in a closet.

Brynnly named the girl Princess and the boy Tank.
The only time that I have touched these fuzzy little things was when I found some cute dog outfits to dress them up in.

The TOAD
The kids were playing with it and it ended up going under the desk and so we tried for a while to get it out and no such luck. I got scared and we just waited until Brian got home to get it out.
Oh man, I sure those these little kids. They have made me appreciate nature
and all sorts of animals that I would never have cared to know about.

Oh it's been great catchin up on my farmer's!! Tiff, I'm dying you guys are hilarious!! Every kids dream right there. We have friends of ours out here that have a chicken coop so my kids got to pick out a 1 day old baby chick and they are now the 'foster parents' for my kids' chicks! hahaha.
Crazy to think back to all of our talks about 'change' and what was going to become of BOTH of our lives going in different directions. This was when neither of us had a clue what/where/when our lives would be! And here we are...
Next stop, AUSTIN!!!!!

OH my heck, that post made me laugh so hard! I never figured you for a couple guinea pigs as pets, but hey, at least you're starting small. Dog is next, just remember that! Um and not to be bearer of bad news, but Mel let her kids get a guinea pig and it got out and smooshed between the couch. I think it gave her nightmares for a month. Happy pet owning:)
